A Call to Action

Greetings everyone,

It's time the Philanthropy and Scholarship Committee took off!

Our hope is that as 2009 comes to a close we can establish some substantial goals and a time-line for accomplishing them.

This project is crucial to what we do and how we represent ourselves as a community. We look forward to hearing your inspirations and what you are already working on that holds meaning for you and your studios. Please take some time to share.

First Meeting: The first thing we need to do is establish a meeting for all of those interested in participating with their ideas or their time.

If you are interested, please send an email letting us know when you might be able to get together in October for a meeting. chantill@pilatescollective.com

You are welcome to submit your ideas via email as well. We appreciate all of your input!

Here is what is on the agenda.

Philanthropy: Community Outreach

1. The importance of giving back to your community: A Mission Statement.

2. Creating online Resource List of Community-based/Volunteer Opportunities: How to Choose a community project to align your studio with.

3. UPC Develop Affiliations with Community Groups : Girl Scouts, Senior Centers, Red Cross, Women's Centers.

Scholarships:

1. Establish small monetary scholarships available on a needs basis ($200, $500, $1000).

2. Establish a Resource List/Page for potential students looking for funds (ie. vocational training, transitioning from disability or public assistance to self sufficiency.

3. Plan first Scholarship Fundraiser for 2010 to raise money for small scholarships/subsidies for any training program.

4. Outreach to local woman's shelters to develop assistance programs.
