Hi All,
Sorry I couldn’t make it down today, though I thought I would send some thoughts and ideas to get us started. I would like to begin an email or blog conversation about how we can move forward to establish a direction and some first steps for outreach within our professional community.
A bit about me: My direct experience is fundraising through my studio within the scope of our community and our students. My larger interest, however, is to create a means for disabled, disenfranchised, low-income and others to get the best professional Pilates training that they can even if they lack the funds.
Outside of providing financial assistance, I see a great need for studios and individuals to build outreach programs in order to promote healthy lifestyles, mindful movement and joyful living in our larger communities. To me this means volunteerism, free clinics, on-location workshops and other interactive not-for-profit activities that we as a professional organization can facilitate on both a small local scale and beyond.
Here are some thoughts for getting started:
1.Establish a direction, a mission and/or specific purpose for the committee to follow.
2.Generate a list of project priorities. For example:
*Perhaps our first step is to create a general scholarship fund managed by the BAPC available to a broad range of individuals for trainings of their choice.
*Second, to establish a list of guidelines for individual studios to follow to help build/create specific financial assistance for students participating in their programs (needs based). Etc.
3.Create a committee contact list with names, numbers, interests and/or areas of specialty both in Pilates and outreach/fundraising.
4.Decide on our next step.
Well, I hope that’s helpful. I look forward to hearing how today goes. I am sorry for having to miss it.
All my best,
Chantill
